about TkTabla

TkTabla is an Open Source projects intended to develop a tabla notation software.
In a second phase there will be a web-based tabla compositions database, to which the local database handled by the TkTabla application will be linked, allowing anyone to share his/her own compositions.

Since TkTabla will be Free Software, free software tools will be used to develop it.

• TkTabla is written in pure Tcl/Tk to guarantee platform independence across Windows, Linux and MacOS X.
• The sound library of choice at the moment is Snack Sound Toolkit but other tools are being evaluated.
• The sound editor will be a modified version of the XS sample package included in the Snack Sound Toolkit distribution
• The widget libraries used are:
  • BWidget
  • Tix
  • Tablelist
• The database is a flat text files database handled by a Tcl/Tk routine based on Richard Suchenwirth's Simple Database API.

The development is still in a very early phase and, at this stage, no external developers are needed to help in the development.
Some screenshots are available of the already developed parts of the application.
A preview release will be available for download hopefuly in the fist two weeks of june.
